Today is a great day to make a change in how you handle your money.
But how the hell do you get started?
Who can you trust?
Do you buy a course?
Look at YouTube videos?
Trust the advice of that one person, who sold your grandmother the life insurance policy and called their-self a “financial advisor”?
Or do you stay on the same path?
These are all rational questions and other than the insurance sales person masquerading as a financial advisor, they are all good starting points.
Hell, I’ve asked myself these questions in the past.
I mean, personal finance is hard. Not every money decision is easy to make.
We all have different things that motivate us or cause us to want to change.
Dave Ramsey, figured that out a long time ago, which is why he utilizes your religious fear to preach repenting from debt in all of his courses, books, shenanigans, etc..
If you can’t tell, I am not his biggest fan…but I digress.
However to make a change today, stop and ask yourself…
Are you motivated by fear or positivity?
If its fear, Dave Ramsey and his “debt is evil” strategy might work for you.
On the other hand if its positivity, you’re going to need a new approach.
Personally, I like positivity because life is too short to go around being fearful.
And money is nothing we need to fear.
However we do need to respect it.
So in my opinion there are four key personal finance rules to follow:
Save more than you spend
Always be investing
Get to the bag
Enjoy your life
If you think about it, these are simple rules
They also will have a different meaning for every person.
Which is why, personal finance is hard and thats okay.
"... Money is nothing we need to fear ... And that's okay." Loved the spirit of this. Wish more people embraced a healthy relationship with money. Thanks for this post!
